Raoul Wallenberg and WWII timeline
1912- Raoul Wallenberg was born into a wealthy and loving family in Stockholm,Sweden.
1914- In June 28 Archduke Franz Ferdinand heir to the throne of Austro-Hungarian empire and his wife are assassinated in Sarajevo, leading to the start of World War One.
1914- Aug 4, Germany invades Belgium, officially starting WWI.
1919- June 28, The treaty of Versailles is signed by Germany and World War One comes to an end.
1933- Adolf Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany, his Nazi party takes power and Hitler is essentially the dictator of Germany.
1934- Hitler increases the size of the army, begins building warships and creates a German air force clearly disobeying the Treaty of Versailles.
1935- Raoul Wallenberg graduates from Michigan University and starts working at a temporary job in South Africa. Six month later his grandfather finds him a job at a bank in Palestine where he meets a lot of Jews that had escaped from Germany. The stories they tell him deeply shock him.
1939- September 1,Germany occupies Poland starting World War Two.
1941- Germany creates an alliance with Hungary in World War Two.
1944- Germany refuses alliances and takes control in surrounding areas.
1944- Raoul Wallenberg, then 31 years old, arrives to Budapest.
1945- Hitler is defeated, Germany surrenders to the Allies and the Holocaust finally comes to an end.
1945- September 2, Japan surrenders to US after two atomic bombs were dropped and World War Two comes to an end.
